About Us
Ngā Kaupapa

Rangatahi Tairāwhiti are among the least supported cohort of school leavers in the country: without the social, communal and cultural support structures necessary for academic flourishing.
We're a passionate network of Gisborne-raised young professionals committed to empowering the next generation of students from our rohe. We intimately understand the challenges faced by school-leavers transitioning from the familiarity of the East Coast to the demanding environment of big cities. Our mission is to bridge the gap for our young people, who often lack the support and resources necessary to navigate life and studies in the metropolitans.
We aim to prepare Tairāwhiti school-leavers and undergraduates for life in university and beyond. We offer support through mentoring and knowledge-sharing, offering practical advice that equips students with the skills they need to thrive in an urban environment. By sharing our own experiences in overcoming difficulties associated with the move, we help demystify city life: from academic pressures to social integration to navigating public transport to internships and career development. Our commitment to giving back to the community that raised us is at the heart of what we do.
